Speakers
Dr Karina Patel
Dr Karina Patel qualified as a dentist at Kings College in London, UK, with further development in the USA, UAE, UK and Australia.
Dr Patel has a special interest in Craniofacial pain and sleep disorder breathing. This lead her to be the director of TMJ and sleep therapy centres in London, Devon and Dubai for over 10 years.
At the London Sleep centre she was able to help find the most efficient patient pathways with a multidisciplinary team of physicians and allied health professionals. She has treated over 5000 patients with sleep breathing disorders and chronic pain complaints.
Dr Patel has lectured internationally on sleep and pain and relocated to Australia in 2021 where she is now helping to spread more awareness about sleep disorders.
Sarah Beach OHT (UQ)
Sarah Beach is an Oral Health Therapist who also holds a BHSc in public Health and a BA in Communication and media management. Sarah has worked clinically for more than 25 years in dental practices across Australia, Switzerland and Singapore.
Sarah has dedicated thousands of hours towards CPD, to be able to successfully manage and treat complex and chronic craniofacial pain conditions. These areas of special interest include, Sleep Medicine and dentistry, Orofacial myofunctional therapy, pain science, breathing retraining, trauma counselling, manual therapy, orthodontics and airway dentistry.
Sarah works with specialist oral & maxillofacial surgeons and neurologists where she manages and rehabilitates complex and chronic TMD, as well and tension headache patients.
Dr Damian Teo
Sleep & TMJ Dentist in Melbourne. Dr Damian Teo is a holistic dentist who has focused his practice on TMD, Bruxism and Dental Sleep Medicine. Since graduating from dentistry at Latrobe University in 2012, Damian dived straight into a TMD and Dental Sleep Medicine clinic in Melbourne.
Damian is passionate about looking “beyond the mouth” and treating the body as a whole. He believes dentists play an important role in being able to recognise airway/breathing issues, sleeping problems, and craniofacial pain (such as headaches, neck pain, and TMD).
Dr Leon Kitipornchai
Dr Leon Kitipornchai is an ENT surgeon subspecialised in Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and Snoring Surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in Otolaryngology, head and neck surgery. Following ENT training in QLD, he completed a post-fellowship clinical and research post with Professor Stuart Mackay in Wollongong with a subspecialisation focus on Obstructive Sleep Apnoea in children and adult.
Dr Kitipornchai has completed a Master of Sleep Medicine at the University of Sydney and is a Senior Lecturer (clinical) with the University of Queensland.
